Hi
One of the most difficult things is asking students not use their native
language with their same language friends. They loose so much by not
forcing themselves to speak English. I've had students that have actually severed
relationships with their native friends just so they can have English
speaking friends, and be forced to use English.
They have to realize that the more they try English the better they can
become.
It's not easy, but it can work. I suggest at least 1 day a week that they
try English only in their home. No matter what, except emergency
situations. And to keep the tv on all day even if they are not watching it cuz
they'll hear English spoken.
Regards
Pat in Pa.
