I've used both in classes. Students prefer Connect with English. It's a more realistic story. Crossroads is probably easier for lower level students. CWE has far better support material.

There seem to be a lot of great ideas using Crossroads Cafe with ESL Classes. How about Connect with English, which can be streamed for free from the Web?
