Heide, Fran and others, the Goodling Institute for Research in Family
Literacy has been developing an online Certificate in Family Literacy
offered through Penn State's World Campus in partnership with the
National Center for Family Literacy. The 15 Penn State credits may
be applied to either undergraduate or graduate degree programs.
Separate courses may also be taken if one is not interested in the
entire certificate. For example, the Adult Literacy course may of
interest to those who want the nitty-gritty in teaching literacy
skills to adults. For more information please see the certificate
web site (http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/pub/famlt/index.shtml). We
are talking to one state about a cohort approach (possibly at a
reduced price) for professional development. We would like to
explore this possibility with others. Nickie
