program on October 9 and 10 being held near Mt. Hood outside Portland,
Oregon.  Whether your work is with staff, patients, clients or your own

The Keynote speakers have some very interesting information to enhance
teaching for the 60-90% of us who think and learn in pictures. This session,
Visual teaching in an auditory world is by Joanna Kaakinen, Ph.D., R.N.  And
Ellyn Arwood, Ed.D., CCCSLP of the University of Portland.  

An extra treat that is not mentioned on the flyer .....on Thursday night,
massage therapists will be at the evening session doing chair massages.

Ellyn Arwood, Ed.D, CCCSLP
Dr. Arwood  is a professor in the School of Education, University of
Portland.  She is the author of several books, monographs and articles on
language and learning.

Jan Buhmann, M.S., R.N., C.
Mr. Buhmann coordinates the design and development of online learning at
PeaceHealth in Eugene, OR.  He is also on the faculty at the Center for
Lifelong Learning at the Indiana University School of Nursing.

Joanna Kaakinen, Ph. D., R.N.
Dr. Kaakinen is an Associate Professor at the School of Nursing at the
University of Portland.  Her teaching expertise is in the areas of
communication, teaching and foundations of nursing.

Margo Mansfield, M.A.
Ms. Mansfield has been a Performance Consultant in the field of training and
human development for 25 years.  She has worked with trainers and educators
to develop methods of demonstrating the Return on Investment (ROI) for their
roles.

Teresa Rios
Ms. Rios is the Capacitation Coordinator  of the Community Capacitation
Center at the Multnomah County Health Dept.

Michele Spatz, M.S.
Ms. Spatz is the Director of the Planetree Health Resource Center, a
community consumer health library affiliated with Mid-Columbia Medical
Center in The Dalles, OR and teaches for the Medical Library Association.

Linda Stahl
Ms. Stahl is the Health Information Specialist at Planetree Health Resource
Center in The Dalles, OR.
She has published articles in the Journal of Hospital Librarianship and the
Journal of Consumer Health on the Internet.

Mary Ann Wallace, M.D.
Dr. Wallace is the Medical Director of Heartspring Wellness Center at Good
Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis, OR.  She is a former R.N., epidemiologist,
bookstore owner and actress.  She is certified in Jin Shin Do Accupressure
and is awaiting publication of her book  Seasons of the Soul.

Noelle Wiggins, M.P.H.
Ms. Wiggins is the Manager of the Community Capacitation Center at the
Multnomah County Health Dept.
