14. If prostate cancer is found, how do doctors describe how far the cancer has spread?

If cancer is found in the prostate, the doctor needs to stage the disease. Staging is a careful attempt to find out whether the cancer has spread and, if so, what parts of the body are affected. The doctor also needs to find out the grade of the cancer. The grade tells how closely the tumor resembles normal tissue. (Answer continues on next page.)
