The OECD has co-operated with civil society since its creation. For many years this co-operation took place principally through the Business and Industry Advisory Committee to the OECD (BIAC) and the Trade Union Advisory Committee to the OECD (TUAC). In the past decade the OECD has extended these activities to a broader range of stakeholders, notably other international civil society organisations. Find out more .

Efficient tax systems underpin development but tax dodgers in developed and developing countries deprive governments of revenues. (see article in The Guardan newspaper) Tax, trade and investment policies are key to the mobilisation of resources for development. OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría highlighted OECD work on tax at the UN International Conference on Financing for Development.
