CITRIC ACID AND CERTAIN CITRATE SALTS FROM CANADA AND CHINA INJURE U.S. INDUSTRY, SAYS USITC

The United States International Trade Commission (USITC or Commission) today determined that a U.S. industry is materially injured or threatened with material injury by reason of imports of citric acid and certain citrate salts from China that the U.S. Department of Commerce has determined are subsidized and by reason of imports from Canada and China that the U.S. Department of Commerce has determined are sold in the United States at less than fair value.

Commissioners Charlotte R. Lane, Irving A. Williamson, and Dean A. Pinkert voted in the affirmative. Chairman Shara L. Aranoff, Vice Chairman Daniel R. Pearson, and Commissioner Deanna Tanner Okun voted in the negative.

As a result of the Commission's affirmative determinations, the Department of Commerce will issue an antidumping duty order on imports of these products from Canada and countervailing duty and antidumping duty orders on imports of these products from China.

The Commission's public report Citric Acid and Certain Citrate Salts from Canada and China (Investigation Nos. 701-TA-456 and 731-TA-1151-1152 (Final), USITC Publication 4076, May 2009) will contain the views of the Commission and information developed during the investigations.
