Nellis Airmen rescue fallen climber at Zion National Park
NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- In a matter of three hours, a crew of seven boarded a helicopter to save a complete stranger at Zion National Park, Utah, May 9. The crew members were Nellis Airmen from the 66th and the 58th Rescue Squadrons; the mission was to rescue a climber who had fallen 25 feet and sustained spinal and neck injuries.

WASHINGTON (AFNS) -- Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton A. Schwartz and Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Rodney J. McKinley have announced the Airman selected to be the service's next enlisted leader.

In honor of military children

Plan ahead for Mother's Day suprise
NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- The month of May is full of important events such as Cinco de Mayo, Military Spouse Day, Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day, those dates are 5, 8, 17 and 26 respectively. May is also National Military Appreciation Month, Mental Health Awareness Month and Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. However, the most important event happens on May 10, Mother's Day.

Idea saves time and money for training pods
NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- Chad Russ, Nellis pod shop manager and Joint Test, Tactics and Training (JT3) contractor, submitted a maintenance process improvement through the Air Force's Innovative Development Through Employee Awareness (IDEA) Program last year, and now his $230,000 cost-saving idea was approved and was implemented Air Force wide, March 5.
