increases in the prices of everything we buy.
The new annual dues for seniors are $72 for
initial membership and $62 for renewals. The new annual dues for
cadets are $30.
There is also a new CAPF 12 (Application for

A Nevada
Wing, Civil Air Patrol, aircrew answered a Mayday distress call while on
a routine mission over the Lake Tahoe
area at about 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2008.
After answering the distress call, they proceeded to the location of an
overturned seaplane in Lake Tahoe near Incline Village, Nevada while
contacting the CAP Commander on duty, Maj Gordon Jobe. Maj Jobe
contacted the Coast Guard and local law enforcement.
The CAP crew then orbited the seaplane, a SeaBee, until it was clear
that local boater and rescue crews had reached the aircraft and its
passengers.
The Civil Air Patrol aircrew consisted of Lt Col James Anderson, pilot
in command, of the South Lake Tahoe Blackhawk Squadron, Civil Air Patrol
and Maj Russell Johnson, of the Reno Composite Squadron, Nevada Wing,

Humboldt Country Squadron Finds Missing Person
August 15, 2008
A missing person was found by an aircrew from Humboldt County
Composite Squadron. The aircrew consisted of Lt Col Peter Goeser,
Capt Sam Siegfried and 2Lt Randolph Smith.
The person was reported missing by family when he failed to return
from a fishing outing. CAP was activated and the aircraft
launched. Shortly thereafter the missing person was able to make a
cell phone call to his girlfriend, and the CAP aircraft was diverted to
the general area where the man thought he was located. The
aircraft found the man and directed the Elko County Sheriff to the find
location. The man was given water and released to family members
at the scene.
The AFRCC credited Nevada Wing with a find and a save.

August 11, 2008
A rented C172
that took off from Palo Alto, Calif., on the night of August 7 crashed
near Lake Tahoe, killing the only person aboard.
The aircraft,
owned by the Palo Alto-based flying club Advantage Aviation, left Palo
Alto airport at 8:10 p.m., PDT, Thursday night, according to the online
flight tracker FlightAware. It's unclear when it crashed.
Officials were
alerted to the crash about 3 a.m., Friday morning, by an electronic
locator transmitter on the plane, said Deputy Brooke Keast of the Washoe
County Sheriff's Department.
At dawn,
the Civil Air Patrol launched a search from Truckee, CA with Capt Scott
Kennedy and Lt Col Robert Todd aboard. The crew found the wreckage on a
wooded mountainside a few miles north of Incline Village, Nevada.
The sheriff's
department and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said it could take months to determine the
cause of the crash.
