Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney, Chair of the Joint Economic Committee (JEC), and Senator Charles E. Schumer, Vice Chairman of the JEC, released a report showing unfair credit card practices are sending American families further into debt and undermining the economic recovery.  The report, “Vicious Cycle: How Unfair Credit Card Company Practices Are Squeezing Consumers and Undermining the Recovery,” outlines how the economic downturn and financial crisis have accelerated the adverse impacts of these practices on consumers, small businesses and our economy as a whole.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) applauded the release by the federal Department of Transportation (DOT) of millions in stimulus funding for the Second Avenue Subway and East Side Access megaprojects, which are located almost entirely within Maloney’s congressional district. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood today announced the early delivery of $78.9 million for the Second Avenue Subway and $195.4 million for East Side Access, along with funding for seven other projects around the country.

Washington, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives passed by voice vote H.R. 774, legislation introduced by Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-Manhattan, Queens) to name the Long Island City Main Post Office after former Congresswoman Geraldine Ferraro. The Main Post Office is located at 46-02 21st Street in Long Island City, Queens, in the district Ferraro represented with distinction in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1984, Ferraro strode into history as the first female vice-presidential candidate on a national party ticket. In the House, Ferraro served on the Post Office and Civil Service Committee, among other committee assignments.
