60^th Annual Wisconsin Student Nurses’ Association Conference, Wisconsin Dells

The Wisconsin Health Sciences Library Association (WHSLA) once again exhibited at the annual Wisconsin Student Nurses’ Association (WSNA) Annual Convention on February 14, 2009, at Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Over 200 nursing students, faculty, and nursing leaders from across Wisconsin attended the meeting.

The WHLSA table included the large gray GMR display with screenshots of National Library of Medicine (NLM) online resources, a laptop connected to the Internet for demonstrations of online resources, and several giveaways including NLM bookmarks, pens, as well as WHSLA brochures and magnetic clips. Raffle prizes, including two Littman stethoscopes, donated by WHSLA, helped to generate enthusiasm and increase attendance at the booth.

In addition to other NLM resources, MedlinePlus.gov as a vehicle for patient education was highlighted to booth visitors. While over 1/4 of these visitors had used MedlinePlus.gov previously, most were unaware of the multiple language resources as well as the interactive tutorials offered.

This event was planned by the WHSLA Outreach Committee: Ulrike Dieterle, Brenda Fay, and Peg Allen.
