Vice President Biden released the first quarterly report detailing progress in the implementation of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act over the first 77 days. Among the findings:

150,000 jobs have been created or saved

More than $88 billion dollars has been made available for programs and projects

Over 3,000 transportation construction projects have been funded in 52 states and territories
-
95 percent of working families have begun seeing the benefits of the Making Work Pay tax credit in their paychecks

COBRA health insurance premiums have been reduced by 65 percent
-
Unemployment benefits have increased by $25 a week

States have drawn down $15.7 billion in Medical Assistance (FMAP) funds, allowing them to avoid budget cuts

Thirteen states have qualified for State Fiscal Stabilization Funds to improve education programs and save education-related jobs

Great Falls Tribune (Montana) – Energy projects to save county $1 million by 2025
Cascade County officials have figured out how to save more than $1 million by 2025.
Commissioners voted 2-0 Tuesday to approve a contract with Johnson Controls for energy saving projects in county buildings that will cost about $4.5 million. The work is expected to generate approximately $5.7 million in energy savings over 15 years, meaning the county can expect to save nearly $80,000 annually over that time.
Approximately $94,400 in federal stimulus dollars will help pay the initial cost, and additional state aid may be forthcoming, County Commission Chairman Joe Briggs said… [5/13/09]
Denver Daily News (Colorado) – Stimulus cash opportunities report out
The governor’s office yesterday released a report detailing opportunities available to Coloradans through the $7 billion Colorado is expected to receive from the $787 billion federal economic stimulus package.
The 11 areas Colorado will benefit most are in education, health care, human services, employment and workforce training, business and economic development, transportation, energy efficiency and conservation, environment and natural resources, housing, public safety and telecommunications, according to Gov. U.S. Congressman Allen Boyd (D-North Florida) announced that Bay County schools will receive $8,394,328 in federal funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act…
"The federal funding is great news for Bay County," said Boyd, quoted in the release. Roanoke Times (Virginia) – Stimulus money goes to Boones Mill's water
Town residents will soon welcome clean water from their faucets thanks to stimulus funds announced this week.
The town has received about $3.3 million from the state Department of Health's Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund, Town Manger Lynn Frith said. The money originated from the federal stimulus package and is being dispersed by the state…
The town was issued and has continued to operate under a consent order from the health department for the past six years because of unclean water… [5/13/09]
Providence Journal (Rhode Island) – Rhode Island extends jobless benefits for some
About 1,800 Rhode Islanders who have exhausted their unemployment benefits may be eligible to resume collecting because of a change in federal rules that the state has chosen to adopt.
Another 800 or so people who would otherwise wind up exhausting their benefits over the next several weeks will also be eligible to collect extended benefits…
