2008 National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month Press Conference and Kick-Off - SAMHSA-Sponsored
Description
The Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will unveil the results of the 2007 National Survey on Drug Use and Health at a press conference on Thursday, September 4. The annual survey, formerly called the Household Survey is the largest of its kind, and is the governments primary vehicle for determining how many persons are abusing illegal drugs, pharmaceuticals, alcohol and tobacco.

The release of the 2007 survey results is the keynote of the annual National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month press conference marking a month long observance of the gains made by those in recovery from alcohol and drug abuse, as well as treatment providers.

This recovery event is hosted by BayCare Behavioral Health, WestCare and the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence Tampa Bay, Inc. The evening will start with a Keynote Speaker, Christopher Kennedy Lawford followed by a concert which includes Early Clover (former member of the Coasters) and local jazz band "Mo Betta". Ride for Recovery
Description
The "Ride for Recovery" begins at Noon at Destination Daytona in Ormond Beach. The ride will run 4 hrs making several stops in East Volusia and ending at Main Street in Daytona Beach. Smoothies and lunch will be served during the ride. The ride will be followed by a FREE concert at the Daytona Beach Band Shell starting at 4:00pm featuring the music of Jeff Tuttle. Tickets for a 50/50 raffle will be given out for donations. The drawing will be held at the Band Shell Concert.

12 Step Music Fest
Description
12 Step Music Fest is a campout for ALL 12 step fellowships. It will be held November 6-9 2008 at Sugarloaf Key (mile marker 20) KOA Campground in the Florida Keys. The entire campground will be closed to the public.

It's a mini Woodstock, minus the drugs and alcohol, but add meetings and fellowship.

We are promoting music, fun and harmony among fellowships. We will have floating meetings, yes meetings in the ocean, bring your rafts and noodles!! There will be a 24 hour marathon tent for AA meetings, a 24 hour marathon tent for NA meetings, and a 3rd tent available 24 hours for sign up for other fellowships and special interest meetings.
