the 6th Annual Walk/Rally for Treatment and Recovery from Substance Abuse
Description
September, 2008 will be the 19th Annual National Alcohol and Drug Recovery Month. To celebrate this event, Promoting Safe and Stable Families (PSSF) of SODAT Delaware, Inc. will be hosting the 6th Annual Walk/Rally for Treatment and Recovery from Substance Abuse on Saturday, September 13, 2008. The purpose of this activity is to educate the community about substance abuse prevention and intervention. The theme for this year is Focus on Families in Crisis.
The Walk will start at 10:30am from 5th and Walnut Streets in Wilmington, Delaware and end at Rodney Square located at 10th and King Streets. The rally will be from 11am until 3pm. There will be live entertainment, refreshments, prizes, speakers, and vendors.
The abuse of alcohol and drugs causes serious consequences that can lead to medical problems, mental health problems, homelessness, jail, or even death. Substance abuse affects more than just the addicted; family members, employers, and the community at large all suffer. The good news is that recovery is possible. Treatment works for those who are willing. Please show your support by participating in this inspiring event. For more information, contact Lonnie Edwards or Pat Evans at 656-4044.
PSSF is funded through a grant from the Office of Prevention and Early Intervention, DSCYF.
