X-ray Astrophysics Laboratory

The X-ray Astrophysics Laboratory conducts astrophysical investigations of a broad range of systems from remote robotic observations of nearby solar system objects, to cosmological structures utilizing the radiation that they produce, primarily using X-ray radiation. This includes the physics of extreme environments, such as those near the event horizons of black holes, and on the evolution of stars, galaxies, and large scale structure. Support the Sun Earth Exploration Division by providing detectors to characterize the surface composition of solar system bodies. Supports the Solar System Exploration Division by providing remote observations of solar system bodies.
