The Wellcome Trust licenses their image library under Creative Commons

The Wellcome Trust, an independent charity funding research to improve human and animal health, has licensed their image library under the Creative Commons license. Launched on June 15, 2007, ‘Wellcome Images’ is the world’s leading source of images on the history of medicine, modern biomedical science and clinical medicine.

All content has been made available under a Creative Commons Licence, which allows users to copy, distribute and display the image, provided the source is fully attributed and it is used for non-commercial purposes.

Register Now: NCBI Introduction to Molecular Biology and Information Resources Course

Registration is now open for the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI)’s three-day course, Introduction to Molecular Biology and Information Resources. The course will be taught in the Middle Atlantic Region on April 2-4, 2008 at New York University Ehrman Medical Library, New York, NY.

Librarians interested in learning an overview of search systems available at NCBI can attend the three-day Introduction to Molecular Biology and Information Resources course. This course reviews many NCBI services and search systems by combining lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on experience. If you work with researchers in molecular biology or bioinformatics, this course will be of interest to you.

Which Web browsers will work with PubMed?

PubMed has been tested on the following browsers although other versions may work without difficulties:

Browsers that have been exhaustively tested:

  • Windows: IE 7.0, IE 6.0, Firefox 2.0, Opera 9
  • Macintosh: Safari 2.0 on OSX 10.4, FireFox 2.0 on OS X 10.2-10.4, Opera 9
  • Solaris (Sun OS 10): FireFox 2.0, Opera 9

Browsers that have been tested and seem to work reasonably well:

  • Windows: FireFox 1.5, SeaMonkey 1.1.2, Netscape 8.2 & 9.0
  • Macintosh: FireFox 1.5, iCab on OS 9 (with some problems)

Browsers that do not work well and should be upgraded:

  • Windows: Netscape 7.2, Mozilla 1.7, IE 5.0, IE 5.5 SP2
  • Macintosh: Safari, all pre 2.0 versions, Mozilla 1.7, IE (Microsoft no longer supports Macintosh IE, please try another browser such as Safari, FireFox or iCab)
