Primary/Specialty Care Program - Depression

The National Depression Screening Day (NDSD) primary care outreach was established to support and encourage primary care clinicians to screen their patients for mood and anxiety disorders as part of regularly scheduled medical visits.

Resources are provided to clinicians not only to screen and educate their patients, but also to raise clinician awareness of the signs, symptoms and treatment options for mental disorders. Materials provided to registered clinicians as part of the program include:

  • Screening Forms with scoring instructions and referral guidelines
  • Educational brochures
  • Administrative and clinician outline for conducting office-based patient screening
  • Posters for display in the primary care office
  • Clinician guide and pocket cards to teach techniques for accurate screening, diagnosis, referral and/or treatment
