The United States Mint will launch the John Tyler Presidential $1 Coin at his Charles City County, Virginia, home-Sherwood Forest Plantation-on Tuesday, May 19, at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time (ET).  The media and the public are invited to the free event hosted by United States Mint Deputy Director Andy Brunhart and Harrison Tyler, grandson of John Tyler and Mrs. Tyler.

The launch ceremony for the John Tyler Presidential $1 Coin will take place two days before the coin's release by the Federal Reserve on May 21.  Collectors who cannot attend the event can purchase rolls of the John Tyler Presidential $1 Coin at www.usmint.gov or at 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468) starting noon ET on Thursday, May 21.  The rolls, priced at $35.95, contain circulating quality coins minted at the United States Mint at Philadelphia or Denver.

Those in attendance who are 18 years old and younger will receive a newly minted John Tyler Presidential $1 Coin to commemorate the occasion.

Unlike past launches, there will be no coin exchange following the event. The event is being held at the private home of President Tyler's descendants.

The John Tyler Presidential $1 Coin is the tenth coin released in the United States Mint's Presidential $1 Coin Program.  The coin features the dramatic portrait of our nation's tenth president on the coin's obverse (heads side) and the Statue of Liberty on the reverse.
