United States Mint Releases District of Columbia and U.S. Territories Quarters Program Map

WASHINGTON - The United States Mint announced today the beginning of sales for the 2009 District of Columbia and U.S. Territories Quarters Program Map on May 19, 2009, at noon Eastern Time (ET).  The map, offered at $12.95, holds the six circulating quarter-dollar coins honoring the District of Columbia and the five U.S. Territories: the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the United States Virgin Islands and the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands.  Production is limited to 50,000 units.

The back of the folder that contains the map features colorful photos of scenes from the District of Columbia and the five U.S. territories on the front of the folder, along with facts about each location.  The interior features a map with specially designed coin holders that allow the quarters to be easily snapped in place or removed.

Customers can order the 2009 District of Columbia and U.S. Territories Quarters Program Map through the United States Mint's secure Web site, www.usmint.gov.  Telephone orders will be accepted at the toll-free number, 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).  Hearing- and speech-impaired customers with TTY equipment may place their orders at 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).

The 2009 District of Columbia and U.S. Territories Quarters Program is a one-year initiative authorized by Public Law 110-161.  The reverse of each quarter features distinct images emblematic of the District of Columbia or the territory.  The obverse of each quarter continues to feature the familiar image of George Washington.

Digital images of each quarter are available at:  http://www.usmint.gov/pressroom/index.cfm?action=Photo#2009DCTerri.
