Automation of Reports and Consolidated Orders System

This bulletin has been prepared by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of Diversion Control, ARCOS Unit, to assist participating ARCOS registrants with the preparation and submission of required DEA controlled substance transaction reports to ARCOS.

ARCOS Participants presently reporting on magnetic media may now submit quarterly or monthly ARCOS transaction reports on standard data CD’s. CD reporters should use the same file formats used on 3.5" diskettes (described in Section 3.8.2 of the ARCOS Registrant Handbook) for compatibility.

Additionally, the ARCOS Bar Code Label should be applied to the outside cover, to avoid any problems that could develop by applying the label directly to the CD’s.

The ARCOS Unit also requests that participants who wish to report using CD’s provide the ARCOS Unit with written notification of intent to use the CD reporting method. The letter of notification should specify, by registration number, the month or quarter the conversion to CD will take effect.
