Telework Loan Fund

Have you ever wished you could work from home? Michigan residents with disabilities can apply for loans for equipment and home modifications to do just that! Individuals can either start a home-based business or work for an employer from home.

Telework and telecommuting are interchangeable terms for an employment outcome in which a person conducts business activities at home that would otherwise be completed at an office or workplace.

If you or someone you know requires low-interest credit financing for computers and other equipment, including adaptive equipment and/or home office modifications, contact United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan and the Michigan TeleWork Loan Fund today at 1.800.828.2714.

Loans can be used to purchase any mechanical or electronic devices or apparatus, software or telecommunications systems necessary to perform telework. Loan proceeds can also be used to cover the cost of training needed to use the equipment properly, maintenance agreements and extended warranties for the equipment, and maintenance and repair expenses for the equipment.

Examples of items you can purchase with your telework loan are: computers, printers, software and related peripherals, fax machines, scanners, office machines, tools, telecommunication devices, office furniture, appliances, home modifications for accessibility and/or to create an accessible home office, and assistive technology (if it’s needed to work from home).

The Michigan TeleWork Loan Fund was established by the Michigan Disability Rights Coalition (MDRC) through a grant from the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA). MDRC joined with United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan and the Option 1 Credit Union and disability organizations throughout the State of Michigan to offer this innovative program.
