Development Reform Commission (NDRC) will hold this forum
in order to discuss policy issues that are central to entrepreneurship
and venture capital in China and are relevant to U.S. interests.
On January 23, the DOC will host a series of government-to-government
meetings that will kick off the Forum. On January 24, George
Mason University will host meetings through which U.S. businesses,
financiers, and institutions with interest in China will
be afforded a unique opportunity to meet NDRC officials
and to hear directly about venture capital, financing and
investment policy in China. They will also have an opportunity
to learn about Chinese emerging enterprises, to understand
competitive risks in China, and identify potential investment
targets for U.S. companies.

China Power Plant Emissions Monitoring and Control Technologies Orientation Visit

U.S. Trade Development Agency is providing funding to host up to eleven officials from China's Ministry of Environmental Protection and national and provincial environmental monitoring centers who are responsible for enforcing established emissions regulations and are expected to be involved in substantial procurements of monitoring and control systems. Several thousand coal-fired power plants are currently in operation in China, many of which have not been outfitted with equipment to monitor and control harmful emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide and particulate matter. This Orientation Visit will introduce the delegation to the U.S. government agencies which regulate and promote emissions reductions, as well as U.S. producers of equipment and services in this sector.

China Aviation Emergency Management Orientation Visit

USTDA is providing funding to host 12 Chinese officials primarily from the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) will require upgrading of China’s existing ground systems and training procedures to meet the ICAO standards. Furthermore, as many as 40 new airports at an estimated cost of US$ 19 billion are planned for construction by 2011. To help address these challenges, the delegation will visit several U.S. airports, witness a Triennial exercise, meet with emergency management and other airport officials, and learn about U.S. equipment and service providers.
A business briefing will be held in Grapevine, TX (near Dallas-Ft. Worth Airport) on April 27, 2009.
