For justifiable homicides by citizens, the number began at 381 in 1976 and decreased, reaching 240 in 1977. The number then increased to 495 in 1981, before falling to 164 in 2000. Then it increased, reaching 245 in 2003, before decreasing, reaching 192 in 2005.

For justifiable homicides by police, the number began at 420 in 1976 and decreased, reaching 314 in 1977, where it remained constant until 1978. After 1978, the number increased to 459 in 1980, before decreasing to 300 in 1987. After 1987, it increased, reaching 462 in 1994, before falling to a low of 308 in 1999. After 1999, the number increased to 378 in 2001, before decreasing, reaching 341 in 2002. Then it increased to 371 in 2003, before falling, reaching 343 in 2005.
