Toxicogenomics--An Emerging Discipline Charles W. Schmidt Abstract Toxicogenomics An Emerging Discipline The field of toxicogenomics is evolving rapidly, allowing scientists an ever-deeper insight into the networks of genes and proteins that influence toxic responses. As the discipline gains momentum, scientists are being challenged to decide how to model realistic exposure scenarios, manage the massive volumes of data being generated, and standardize experimental methods to facilitate data exchange and ensure data quality. Amidst all the developments within the field itself, policy makers are attempting to clarify how toxicogenomic data will factor into regulatory processes.
