2008 National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month Press Conference and Kick-Off - SAMHSA-Sponsored
Description
The Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will unveil the results of the 2007 National Survey on Drug Use and Health at a press conference on Thursday, September 4. The annual survey, formerly called the Household Survey is the largest of its kind, and is the governments primary vehicle for determining how many persons are abusing illegal drugs, pharmaceuticals, alcohol and tobacco.

The release of the 2007 survey results is the keynote of the annual National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month press conference marking a month long observance of the gains made by those in recovery from alcohol and drug abuse, as well as treatment providers.

Hands Across the Bridge
Description
On Labor Day, hundreds of Oregon and Washington residents will celebrate recovery from alcohol and drug addiction when they join hands to span the Interstate 5 Bridge connecting the states of Washington and Oregon. The seventh annual Hands Across the Bridge event, set for 10-noon on Monday, Sept. 1, with ceremonies on both the Vancouver and Portland sides of the Columbia, kicks off National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month. Last years event drew almost 2000 participants whose lives had been touched by addiction and recovery. Hands Across the Bridge is sponsored by: The Recovery Association Project and Clark County Substance Abuse Advisory Board.
