Description | The Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will unveil the results of the 2007 National Survey on Drug Use and Health at a press conference on Thursday, September 4. The annual survey, formerly called the Household Survey is the largest of its kind, and is the governments primary vehicle for determining how many persons are abusing illegal drugs, pharmaceuticals, alcohol and tobacco.
The release of the 2007 survey results is the keynote of the annual National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month press conference marking a month long observance of the gains made by those in recovery from alcohol and drug abuse, as well as treatment providers.

Description | Professional Ethics and Boundaries for AOD Professionals (3.0 CE Hours)
Workshop Description and Objectives: 1. Participants will explore unique considerations for the addictions professional, such as credentials, level of experience, discrimination, and issues of a counselor in relapse. 2. Counselors will examine competence in the areas of limits, dual diagnosis, responsibilities of patients and professionals and professional development. 3. The topic of rights of patients will include confidentiality, evaluating success and the myth of choice. 4. Participants will get to examine issues involving exploitation to include issues of publicity and social contacts with patients. 5. Participants will also get the opportunity to explore the ethics involving obligations to colleagues. 6. Examining how boundary issues complicate ethics.
Note: This Workshop meets the SCAADAC/NAADAC Ethics Requirements for initial Certification. |
