2008 National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month Press Conference and Kick-Off - SAMHSA-Sponsored
Description
The Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will unveil the results of the 2007 National Survey on Drug Use and Health at a press conference on Thursday, September 4. The annual survey, formerly called the Household Survey is the largest of its kind, and is the governments primary vehicle for determining how many persons are abusing illegal drugs, pharmaceuticals, alcohol and tobacco.

The release of the 2007 survey results is the keynote of the annual National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month press conference marking a month long observance of the gains made by those in recovery from alcohol and drug abuse, as well as treatment providers.

For the past 3 consecutive years, Portland's Overdose Prevention Project has been hosting the "Recovery & Wellness Resource Fair" in conjunction with National Recovery in September. Each year we offer free food, prizes and the opportunity for Portland's vulnerable communities access to 20 local service providers. Last year we had close to 100 participants join our event!
