2008 National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month Press Conference and Kick-Off - SAMHSA-Sponsored
Description
The Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will unveil the results of the 2007 National Survey on Drug Use and Health at a press conference on Thursday, September 4. The annual survey, formerly called the Household Survey is the largest of its kind, and is the governments primary vehicle for determining how many persons are abusing illegal drugs, pharmaceuticals, alcohol and tobacco.

The release of the 2007 survey results is the keynote of the annual National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month press conference marking a month long observance of the gains made by those in recovery from alcohol and drug abuse, as well as treatment providers.

The Northwest Baltimore Drug Free Community Coalition, Project Garrison, Inc., the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence of Maryland and the Baltimore Substance Abuse Systems, Inc. are working together to provide you with the 2nd Annual Recovery Walk and Rally. Participants will walk 2.5 miles from The Lords Church at 5010 Park Heights Avenue to Druid Hill Park. At Druid Hill Park participants will learn more about treatment and recovery from local and national speakers and facilities that provide drug treatment and other health care providers who are in attendance. Live music and other forms of entertainment, along with childrens fun zone will be available at the Druid Hill Park location. Free food and beverages will also be available.

An intensive study of the 12 Steps using the AA Big Book as the textbook to teach Spiritual prinicples as a recovery model. Presenting Recovery Dyanamics, uniquely taught as a goal-oriented curriculum according to a precise sequence of events. The participants are able to acquire or further establish an understanding of the problem, the solution and a plan of action the leads to recovery from any addiction. This day will be presented over 6 hours, a full day workshop, using teaching resources of Recovery Dynamics, power point, DVD, audio visuals and the Power of Story.
