Goose Bay Marina: The Bureau of Reclamation is seeking public input regarding future recreation-related opportunities, facilities and services at Goose Bay Marina on Canyon Ferry Reservoir.  The existing contract for operation of the Goose Bay Marina expires in July 2010.  Prior to advertising for a new, long-term concession contract for future operation of the Goose Bay Marina concession area, a Recreation Master Plan and Environmental Assessment are being prepared to help Reclamation formulate a clear plan for future development of the concession area.  Aukerman, Haas & Associates, a consulting firm that specializes in water-based recreation planning, has been selected to assist Reclamation with this planning process.  You may view the letter to interested public for additional details and contact information, and also download the public comment form to submit your comments by mail.  For additional concessions management information, visit the MTAO Concessions Management page.  Questions concerning the public involvement process should be directed to Ms. Paula Holwegner of Reclamation’s Montana Area Office at (406) 247-7300.

Canyon Ferry Reservoir offers excellent fishing opportunities for rainbow trout, perch, ling, and walleye, with 33,500 surface acres of water and 96 shoreline miles. Concrete boat ramps, campgrounds, day-use areas, shelters, swimming, and three marinas are also available. Click here for recreation information.

Canyon Ferry Reservoir is located approximately 20 miles east of Helena. Take Highway 12 south for 10 miles, turn east on Highway 287, and then it is approximately 8 miles to the dam (see detailed area map below).
