Riche' Richardson, Ph.D., C'93, associate professor in the Africana Studies and Research Center at Cornell University and an accomplished artist and quilter, recently served as a cultural envoy for the U.S. Embassy in Paris. During her trip, she presented a talk at the Ambassador's residence, and gave numerous talks to American studies scholars. She also unveiled her current work in progress, a quilt marking the inauguration of President Barack Obama. Richardson made her first quilt in 1992 while a student at Spelman, and her work was exhibited on campus in 1993.
