On February 19, 2008, the Millennium Challenge Corporation and the UK Department for International Development signed a Memorandum of Understanding to increase coordination and make their poverty reduction efforts more effective in Africa and throughout the globe.
The United States and Tanzania Sign $698 Million Poverty Reduction Grant
On February 17, 2008, President Bush and Tanzanian President Kikwete signed a $698 million Millennium Challenge grant in a ceremony in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. President Requests Increase in Funding for Innovative Foreign Aid Agency
On February 4, 2008, President Bush submitted his Fiscal Year 2009 Budget to Congress, recommending $2.225 billion for Millennium Challenge Corporation. This request represents a $680 million increase over last year’s enacted level and reaffirms President Bush’s continued commitment to MCC’s mission to reduce poverty through sustainable economic growth in the developing world.
