House Page Program

Currently, sixty-six young men and women are appointed by their Members of Congress to service as pages in the U.S. House of Representatives.

To be qualified to serve as a Page, applicants must be at least 16 years of age at the time their appointment begins and have a cumulative grade point average of a “B” or better (3.0 or 85/100) in the five major subjects.

Pages who serve during the school sessions must be in their junior year, but those serving in the summer may be going into their junior year or may have just completed their junior year.

Pages are required to live at the Page Residence Hall near Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, under the supervision of a director, assistant director, and four proctors who reside on the premises. The males occupy one floor, and the females occupy another floor.

Students who page during the school year attend the Page School which is located in the Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress. Class schedules are maintained but adapt to the pages’ work schedule in case of late-night sessions of Congress.

The pages are paid a monthly salary with an automatic payroll deduction that covers the cost of room and board. They are responsible for their transportation to and from Washington and their uniforms (long-sleeved white shirt, navy blazer, dark gray pants--pants or skirt for girls).

Unfortunately, I will not be able to submit nominations for every session, but my office will send notification to all high school counselors in the 4th District when applications are being accepted. This site will be updated to reflect deadlines for these applications.
