The USFS Pacific Southwest region’s
Stewardship and Fireshed Assessment (SFA) is the most successful
implementation of the SPOTS concept. SFA is a working process
through which inter-disciplinary teams effectively address
natural resource issues using spatial analysis tools. The
SFA process is never really “finished”. Instead
it continues to grow and adapt to technological innovations,
improving spatial data, lessons learned in the collaborative
process, and change in the ever-dynamic landscape.
