Vegetable Insect Research Objectives:

  • Develop and improve conventional commodity treatments to meet quarantine requirements for export of vegetable and deciduous fruits.
  • Develop systems approaches for important pests of vegetables and deciduous fruits to eliminate the need for quarantine treatments.
  • Perform fundamental research to develop innovative methods and strategies to reduce pesticide residues on vegetables and deciduous fruits meet domestic and quarantine requirements of countries that import U.S. commodities.

    • Dr. Neven is working toward providing the tree fruit industry with data needed to propose irradiation and CATTS as quarantine treatments for a variety of tree fruits.
