BLACK HILLS NATIONAL FOREST ADVISORY BOARD TO BEGIN DISCUSSION OF TRAVEL MANAGEMENT
CUSTER, SD: July 12, 2004
The Black Hills National Forest Advisory Board (NFAB) will meet Wednesday,
July 14, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ramkota Hotel in Rapid City (SD)
in the Sylvan 2 Room.
The Board will hear an update on the Phase II planning process
and a presentation about the beginning of discussions going on in
the Black Hills and in the Nation about issues related to travel
management. Off-road vehicle use has risen five-fold in a decade
and is creating both opportunity and conflict in the National Forests.
The public is invited to comment at the meeting's conclusion in
the afternoon. Additionally, members of the public may submit written
or other materials they think would be appropriate and important
for the Board to have in their continuing deliberations.
The Board addresses its comments and advice to the Forest Supervisor
who then makes the Board's views known to the Secretary of Agriculture
through Regional Forester Rick Cables in Denver and Forest Service
Chief Dale Bosworth in Washington.
