Here is the high-level organizational chart for the NASA Advanced Supercomputing (NAS) Division.
NAS ORGANIZATION
The NAS Division is a matrix organization comprised of seven groups and two offices:
- Terascale Systems Group
- Modeling and Simulation Group
- Networking Group
- Internal Operations Group
- User Services Group
- Computer Security Office
- Application Performance & Productivity Group
- Facility Office
- Visualization Group
These groups and offices combine to provide an integrated environment of resources, capabilities, and services that enable the NASA community to make highly effective use of our supercomputing resources.
The NAS Division runs the High End Computing Capability Project, which provides supercomputing resources for all four of NASA's Mission Directorates. The Modeling and Simulation Group also conducts high-fidelity
modeling and simulation for many mission-specific
projects.
How We Fit
NASA's top-level organization is comprised of four mission directorates: Exploration Systems, Space Operations, Science, and Aeronautics Research.
The NAS Division at NASA Ames Research Center, is part of the Exploration Technology Directorate at Ames. This directorate is responsible for providing the advanced information technology research capabilities required to realize the Exploration Systems goal to create capabilities and supporting research and technologies that will enable sustainable and affordable human and robotic exploration.
