July 2008 - The High Data Rate Transition Plan, developed by a task group assigned by the interagency Satellite Telemetry Interagency Working Group (STIWG), calls all users of the GOES system to convert to High Data Rate (HDR). This conversion needs to be completed by December 2013. In order to tell if your station is HDR capable, please refer to this LDR/HDR Guide. Once your station is capable of HDR transmissions, you will need to work with the RAWS helpdesk to obtain a new transmit time and channel so that the conversion can be made during the next annual maintenance visit. Many of you will find that your equipment is already HDR capable (recently purchased). If you do discover that your station is not HDR capable, please remember to budget for the investment.
