How to Order Parts Under the BLM Remote Sensing Fire Weather Support Unit (RSFWSU) Depot Maintenance Contract

Updated 10/10/08

Before you attempt to use this contract, you must be sure your station is covered.
Contact your agency Weather Station Coordinator or the RAWS Helpdesk at 208.387.5475.

  1. Prior to visiting your weather station, use the NFES Catalog to order parts from the RSFWSU depot using one of the Agency forms below.

    • USFS and Non Federal Cooperators
      • Fill out the Maintenance Form. For USFS, be sure to include a valid Job Code and override code or your order will not be processed.

    • FWS

    • NPS

  2. Fax the order form to 208.387.5397 (NOTE NEW NUMBER). Lack of complete information will result in a delay in processing your order.
  3. Once you receive the parts, visit your station and swap the new parts for the old.
  4. All agencies must return the old parts within 14 days to the BLM RSFWSU using the Return for Credit Form. Include a copy of the form in EACH box that is shipped to ensure proper credit. If you do not return the old sensors, you will not be able to order new sensors until the past due sensors are returned!

  5. If you have sensors unique to your station that cannot be ordered from the RSFWSU Depot, you will need to send in your sensors with a Repair and Return form. Once the parts are received in Boise, the RSFWSU folks will calibrate, clean and repair your sensors and return them to you.

IMPORTANT: If you order parts and then discover that you are not going to be able to service your weather station, return the parts within the 14 day timeframe. Include a copy of the Return for Credit Form with EACH box that is shipped. If you do not return the old sensors, you will not be able to order new sensors until the past due sensors are returned.

For more information about the interagency RAWS program, contact USFS Program Manager Linnea Keating or BLM Remote Sensing Fire Weather Support Unit Manager Herb Arnold.
