"I would have sworn we left that that RAWS station right here?"

The crew as they were beginning the burn out operations.

Sky crane dipping for water.

The 2nd station, below, that was set up on a division that was burned out and burned over. The burning occurred at night. The readings archived from the station showed that the temperature reached 94 degrees, FM - 1%, solar rad - 3. Report from the Safety Officer that was there at the time indicated that the station took on a lot of heat. No damage to the station, just a layer of ash that we had to wipe off the next morning and attached an American flag to the antenna ...as a sign of survival.

Needles lookout is where we flew in and set up the first station.

The lookout sets on rock pinnicles....very steep and interesting.

The 3rd station eventually had to be relocated because the fire burned over this area also.
