Arts and Crafts

Arts and Crafts are great activities to keep guests entertained at your Star Party. Use some of the suggestions below or come up with your own space-themed arts and crafts ideas.

Space Place Cards or Placemats
This activity can be as complex or as simple as you want. Decorate 3-inch x 5-inch cards or construction paper with a variety of stickers, cut outs from a space themed coloring book, or the International Space Station Kid's Activity Sheet: 2-page or 4-page format (1.2 Mb PDF). You or your guests can use crayons or colored pencils to color the placemat. Cover the placemats with clear contact paper and so they can be taken home and reused.

Hats and Costumes
Make your own space party hats. Using dark-colored poster board, cut into a rectangle-shape about 17-25 inches by 12-15 inches. You or your guests can decorate with metallic crayons, gel pens, glow in the dark paints, stickers, glitter and so on. Curve the decorated poster paper around until you have a funnel-shape, one end is pointed and the other end is the size to fit on top the head. Glue together and trim the brim to make it even. Ribbons to tie the hat to the head can be put on either side of the hat by stapling or using a hole-punch to put holes on either side of the hat.

Grocery Bag Spacesuits
Younger guests can use a paper grocery bag, white if you can get it, to decorate to make their own spacesuit. Cut the bag to make a vest. Allow the guests to decorate the vest with markers, paints and glitter. Let those imaginations run wild!
