Pence Lauds RSC Economic Stimulus Bill

Broad Tax Cuts, Spending Restraint Key to Job Creation, Economic Recovery

JANUARY 14, 2009

Today, the House Republican Study Committee (RSC) unveiled its economic stimulus bill, the Economic Recovery and Middle-Class Relief Act. Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), Chairman of the House Republican Conference, and former RSC Chairman, issued the following statement on his cosponsorship of the bill:

I commend Chairman Tom Price and the Republican Study Committee for their work in putting forward an economic stimulus package. The RSC’s bill is what working American families and small businesses need at this time of great economic uncertainty. Across the board, broad-based, job-creating tax cuts – coupled with strong spending restraint – is crucial to getting Americans back to work and fostering economic growth. I look forward to taking the ideas laid out in this prudent legislation and making it a key focus during tomorrow’s economic recovery hearing chaired by Republican Whip Eric Cantor.
