Special Ecological Communities

Issue: The Tahoe basin harbors species and ecological communities of special concern because of their rarity and/or vulnerability to alteration by natural and human forces. We need to better understand the special management needs of these species and communities.

Scientific research will improve understanding of the status, requirements, and sensitivities of ecological communities and species of special interest to inform their management and conservation.
