Weed Risk Assessments for Hawaii and Pacific Islands

Weed risk assessment can be a valuable tool for minimizing invasive plant problems. However, weed risk assessments can also be misused. We request that users of the weed risk assessments adhere for the following codes of conduct:

 

Codes of conduct for using Hawaii-Pacific Weed Risk Assessments

Weed risk assessments should not be used as primary justification for removing or unconditionally excluding trees or other plants from urban landscapes.[Explanation]

Although the "H" designation is an indication of risks in some environments, it should not be interpreted to mean "do not plant under any circumstances".[Explanation]



I understand that the Hawaii-Pacific weed risk assessments are based on the best available published information; if additional information becomes available, assessments will be updated and risk ratings can change.
