Question
What is the evidence for organisms surviving a journey through space?
Many microbes as well as seeds and spores were carried into to space for about 5 years on LDEF (the NASA Long Duration Exposure Facility), and some survived even direct exposure to space. Similar exposure tests have been carried out on the Soviet MIR space station, and in addition a rich microbial "wildlife" developed inside both Mir and the current International Space Station. Many higher plants and animals have travelled in space with no bad consequences, and of course humans have both travelled to the Moon in the Apollo program and lived for longer than a year on various space stations.
