The NRA's Best Known Trails
Appalachian Trail - This 2,000-mile Georgia-to-Maine
trail passes through the NRA, providing scenic views of the high
country and great hiking.
Virginia Creeper Trail - One of
the most popular trails in the NRA. Biking, hiking, and horse riding.
Virginia Highlands Horse Trail
- This is a 50-mile regionally know trail that connect with many
other trails, providing loop routes that afford the user multiday
adventures.
Some Great Trails
Beartree Lake Trail - Provides access to two wheelchair
accessible fishing docks.
Comers Creek Falls Trail - a
short hike to a beautiful waterfall.
Hale Lake Trail - winds around Hale Lake. Great solitude. Popular
with anglers.
Hurricane Knob Trail - a 1 mile loop at Hurricane Campground.
Raven Cliff Furnace Trail - a short trail leading to a Civil War
era iron furnace.
Circuit Trails
Four Trails Circuit Trail - a circuit hike near Hurricane Campground.
Rowlands Creek Falls Circuit - a multi-use trail.
Rushing Waters Circuit - a circuit from Creek Junction. 1,500
elevation change.
West End Circuit - a long circuit including the AT, Creeper, and
Iron Mountain trails.
Nature Trails
Two Ponds Self-Guiding Environmental Trail - Visit the Mount Rogers NRA headquarters and enjoy this short trail.
