  • Even Start Family Literacy: Family-focused program that allows parents & children to attend school together. Key program components include adult literacy, preschool education, and parenting education. Participants must live in IPS district and have kids ages 3-5. Free.   • Good News Ministries: Youth center is open Monday – Friday 3-8 p.m. for youth ages 8-18. Tutoring is provided on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 – 5:15 p.m. Reading tutoring is also available via computer. Free. Dinner is available daily.

  • IUPUI Upward Bound: College preparatory program for high school students who will be first-generation college students. Includes weekly tutoring, and monthly enrichment seminars.   • Kids With Wings: Provides a Christian-based after-school program (Monday-Friday, 3-6p.m.) including: tutoring, Bible study, field trips, social skills, crafts and sports for children ages 5-14 in the Martindale-Brightwood area.   • Pathway to the Future Learning Center: Community Resource Center - Offers an after school program for 1st through 5th graders with homework assistance.   • Redeemer Hospitality Mission: Christian-based program that offers tutoring, homework assistance, recreation, and dinner Monday-Thursday, 4-7 P.M., for kids ages 5-14.   • Rose-Hulman Homework Hotline: Tutors, specially trained to help younger students, are available from 7-10p.m., Sunday-Thursday throughout school year. Tutors have most math text books used in Indiana.   • Shepherd Community: Offers the following two programs.

  • Talks My Father Never Had With Me (Indianapolis Commission on African American Males): Mentoring program for school aged, at-risk boys. Meets 30 minutes per week for 26 weeks at IPS schools.   • Forest Manor Multi-Service Center: After school program until 6:00 p.m. providing homework help, activities, educational programs and snacks. Transportation provided from area schools and bus stops. $25.00/week

  • Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center: After-School Program serves grade K-6. Includes homework assistance, arts and crafts, recreational activities and a meal. Contact your child’s school to see what extra help is available (many middle and high schools offer peer tutoring). Additionally, if your child's school is Title I, he or she may be eligible for supplemental services (tutoring).
