Digital Television Switch

Is your TV Ready for the Digital TV (DTV) Conversion?

By June 12, 2009, all television stations in the United States will stop analog broadcasts and will convert to Digital Television (DTV).  DTV is an advanced broadcasting technology that offers improved picture and sound quality.  Consumers who rely on antennas (including outside antennas and “rabbit ears”) to watch analog TV sets will need to obtain separate digital-to-analog set-top converter boxes to watch over-the-air TV.

Households who use analog TVs will not be able to watch television after June 12, 2009 unless they obtain a converter box for each analog television set.  Until July 31, 2009, if funds are available to fill those requests, all U.S. households may request up to two coupons toward the purchase of up to two, digital-to-analog converter boxes.  For more information about the DTV conversion, please visit www.dtv.gov or visit www.DTV2009.gov to learn about the Converter Box Coupon Program.
