Generations United announces the 2006 Generations United Intergenerational Photography Contest sponsored by MetLife Foundation

The contest is for the best intergenerational photo taken by a younger or older person, of younger and older people together and should demonstrate the importance of intergenerational connections. The purpose of the contest is to capture the power and beauty of intergenerational relationships and to convey the important roles that younger and older people play in each other’s lives.

The leading categories are:

Entries for the contest must be submitted to Generations United no later than September 30, 2006. The contest is open to children and youth up to 21 years of age, and adults over the age of 50. Only amateur photographs will be considered.

The American Society on Aging is accepting applications for the Graduate and Undergraduate Student Awards. Each award includes a $500 cash prize. Deadline: September 15, 2006.

The Graduate Student Research Award, endowed by the AARP Foundation, recognizes research relevant to aging and applicable to practice. http://www.asaging.org/asav2/awards/description_grad.cfm?submenu1=grad.

The Undergraduate Student Award is given for exemplary original work related to the theme of the Joint Conference of the American Society on Aging and the National Council on Aging March 7-10, 2007 in Chicago -- "Let's Rethink Aging." http://www.asaging.org/asav2/awards/description_undergrad.cfm?submenu1=undergrad.
