Abstract:
This Report is the first one of two that are required by section 112(k) of the Clean Air Act. It summarizes EPA's strategy to reduce risk to public health posed by the exposure to air toxics in urban areas, and actions that we are taking to reduce those exposures. The Report contains information similar to that provided in the Federal Register notice titled "National Air Toxics Program: The Integrated Urban Strategy" (Strategy) that was published on July 19, 1999. This Report to Congress contains more details on the information and assessments conducted to complete the Strategy, summarizes existing information on risk assessments which have been conducted in various urban areas, and provides a detailed description of research needs to carry out the goals of the Strategy.
