Seminar Detail
The Future of Extrasolar Planet Searches
Presenter: Eric Agol ()
December 6, 2005 02:30 PM Pacific
I will review the present state of our knowledge of the properties of planets orbiting other stars, I will discuss how these planets have been
found, and I will outline the future prospects for finding yet more planets and even smaller planets. I will specifically focus on some novel
techniques that are still currently being developed, but may yield detections of planets in the near future. I will describe how this year a graduate student and I have demonstrated for the first time the capability of detecting earth-mass planets about a sun-like star with a technique we developed last year.Participation Instructions
